Foothills Trail Hike - Kartchner

We got settled at Kartchner Caverns State Park and after spending some time on Monday in Benson, AZ we decided it was time to check out one of the trails here. After breakfast we changed clothes, got my new Camelback pack ready with some snacks and headed out to the trailhead. The trailhead is just across from the campground and leads around the foothill when the caverns are. The trail is 2.5 miles long with some mild elevation gains for some great views of the surrounding area.

Would love to hike up there

The path was somewhat narrow and headed north out of the campground and around the foothill where the caverns are. As we gained some elevation the views were spectacular.

The sun was warm, wind was cool and the air was fresh. A great way to get back into camping.

Those hills ahead are where the caverns are located

The hike was about an hour or so with some photo taking and enjoying the views. Looking forward to doing some sightseeing tomorrow in Sierra Vista, Tombstone and Bisbee. Will keep you posted.
